Jehovah's Witnesses: Third try! Question about Lazarus and the rich man?

Why would Jesus say that Lazarus went to heaven just because he was beggar ? Was he teaching that if you are a beggar you will go to heaven ? Or the rich man also why would he go to a place of torment just because he was throwing crumbs at Lazarus ? Besides the Bible talks about dying in a symbolic sense. Like when a person is baptized he dies to living as a fleshly person and lives again as a spiritual minded person. Death is sometimes used to illustrate a change in the cirstances of a person. A person can be in the darkness or in the light.
