Should I go to the IB program, or is AP a better choice?

I'm an eighth grader, so I'm applying three high schools - one [ghetto] high school that offers IB, one fairly decent school my brother and cousin went to, and one which has good students and a great law program. My brother, who ended up with all 5s on his AP exams and valedictorian, said I would be better off with IB, and that colleges are impressed if you come out great from a crappy school anyway. I want to go to a GOOD school, though, since I tend to work better in a well-mannered environment. There doesn't seem to be too great a difference (the whole 'go to international colleges' doesn't really appeal to me, since ideal choices are Princeton, Yale, et cetera), so which one should I go to?
